Overview: Ra'fat marries Souad against his family's wishes and they go to live in Syria. When Ra'fat dies, Souad works to support her daughter Sahar who wants to marry her neighbor Walid. Souad falls ill but hides it from her daughter whom she sends to live with her rich aunt, Dalwat, in Cairo.
